Project Description

#REBUILDCARIBBEAN

Hurricane Irma, the strongest storm ever recorded, utterly devastated many islands in the Northern Caribbean and today hundreds of thousands of people are without shelter and basic amenities.

ADDED:  THEN CAME HURRICANE MARIA!

Experts estimate the rebuilding efforts to take years and cost billions of dollars.

The Nation Publishing Co. Limited and Starcom Network are partnering with the Rotary Clubs of Barbados to launch the “We Care: One People, One Caribbean’ Hurricane Relief effort.

Many of our Caribbean brothers and sisters are now without homes, power and some have lost all their wordly possessions.  With your support of this crowdfunding campaign, you will help get out people in each of the affected islands back on their feet.  And we want that to happen as quickly as possible.

Your donation will be distributed through Rotary Clubs in each of the affected countries and it will help to put food in the mouths of residents, rebuild homes and infrastructure and restore basic amenities.

SO here’s what you can do to help:

  1. Make a pledge.
  2. Commit to ask 5 friends to also make a pledge.
  3. SHARE OUR CAMPAIGN WITH YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY ACROSS THE GLOBE!

Together we can make a real difference!

HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED :

AT FIRST:  On September 5, life for many living in the region changed drastically as Irma, a Category 5 hurricane packing winds of 185mph, bulldozed her way through the northern region of the Caribbean island chain, causing MASS DESTRUCTION to a number of countries.

Among those impacted were Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, St. Martin/ St. Maarten and St. Bart’s, U.S. Virgin Islands, Haiti, St. Kitts and Nevis and Turks and Caicos.

THEN CAME MARIA:  On September 19 with category 5 strength BATTERED Dominica leaving the country with no communication with many roads blocked and power down.  Puerto Rico is now under its force and Turks and Caicos, BVI and islands in their environs are next in line.

With extensive damage to infrastructure, flooded streets and widespread power outages, many have been left without basic everyday needs – shelter, food, water and clothing.

The bottom line is that we need your help to build a pool of funds to rebuild our beloved Caribbean.

This charitable crowdfunding campaign is seeking to raise much needed funds for Caribbean territories, severely impacted by Hurricane Irma, one of the most powerful weather systems ever recorded.

On Saturday, September 16, the Starcom Network of stations (VOB 92.9 FM, Life 97.5 FM, The Beat 104.1 FM and HOTT 95.3 FM ¬) will be hosting a Radiothon in partnership with Nation Publishing and the Rotary Clubs in Barbados to receive pledges and donations. This fundraising drive will take place from 9am to 2pm. For more information and updates, interested persons can check the social channels of Starcom Network and the Nation Publishing on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

With damages in excess of $20 billion, those impacted require immediate support in their time of need.  Caribbean people are resilient; we’re strong; and in time and with your help, the countries impacted will bounce back.

SO here’s what you can do to help:

  1. Make a pledge.

  2. Commit to ask 5 friends to also make a pledge.

  3. SHARE OUR CAMPAIGN WITH YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY ACROSS THE GLOBE!

After you make a contribution, you will receive an on screen receipt of your contribution that you can have for your record.   There are social media share buttons on it that will make it easy for you to share the campaign on social media.

Together we can make a real difference!

I am in the process of organizing a sale event that would most probably take place at the BelAir Institute in St James Barbados. We haven’t established a date yet.We would like to donate the proceeds generated by this sale towards the reliefs of the Islands that have been stricken by Irma and Maria. What would be the procedures? Thanks
